A lot of men would rather complain about their skin than ask for a cosmetic treatment. Are you ready to man up and ask for a peel? You’ll be glad you did. Chemical peels for men remove damaged skin cells on the outer layers of the skin. By removing these damaged cells it makes the skin smoother, reduces scars and eliminates blemishes, for a more youthful, attractive appearance.
MEN’S CHEMICAL PEEL BENEFITS
Chemical peels for men are a useful way to manage acne, sun damage and issues with pigmentation, as well as scarring. If you’re looking to blast away any of these skin conditions, a light, medium or deep peel may be recommended, depending on the severity of the issue you’re dealing with.
ABOUT THE CHEMICAL PEEL
At our office in Andover, MA, we provide chemical peels at 3 levels (light, medium, and deep) to fit our men’s skin care needs and goals.
Light peels: You can have a light chemical peel on your lunch break from the office and then get back to your day. This peel will remove the top layer of skin (the epidermis), giving your complexion a brighter appearance.
Medium-depth peels: This chemical peel penetrates deeper into your skin, and are best for patients who have significant damage to their skin, such as deeper wrinkles and darker pigmentation issues. It’s best to do this before the weekend.
Deep peels: The most advanced of the three types of chemical peels is the deep peel treatment, and it will require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive cosmetic treatment that could leave your face itchy, swollen, and peeling for several weeks. Patients who receive a deep peel may have dark age spots, sun-damaged skin, significant acne scars, or deep-seated scars. As this strength of peel is typically uncomfortable for most patients, we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your procedure.
We suggest a light peel every month for a youthful skin appearance.
There are no preparations you need to take before your appointment. You just want to make sure you’re aware of the type of peel you will be getting, to ensure your routine doesn’t conflict with the required downtime (for the deeper peels).
Light peels are a slight tingle in the skin.
Medium peels produce a slight burning while the peel is being applied but only lasts a few minutes.
Deep peels are uncomfortable, so we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your procedure.
